The North Face x Gucci Collaboration
Rugged outdoors and luxury don’t usually match but renowned outdoors brand, The North Face and Italian luxury label, Gucci, are out to prove that the two can co-exist. What better way to kick off the new year with Alessandro Michele fusing his maximalist aesthetics with the ruggedness of outdoor gear. This collaboration has already generated enormous level of excitement among outdoor lovers, adventurers and fashionistas.
Outdoor has never been more stylish and given the year everyone has had, with the pandemic and staying indoors, going outdoors has never been a greater wish on everyone’s to-do list in 2021. Defying the pandemic, both brands actively champion the spirit of exploration, both in the great outdoors and your personal journey of self-discovery. This weaves perfectly with Gucci’s spirit of empowerment and encouragement of people celebrating their own unique personalities, and exemplifying Alessandro Michele’s approach towards fashion as a potent instrument of freedom.
The ’70s-inspired collection includes ready-to-wear (puffer coats, windbreakers, vests, shirts, fleece, dresses, skirts, and jumpsuits), accessories (beanies, scarves, backpacks, and belt bags), and shoes. The collection is high on the theme of sustainability too. Bags contain Econyl, a version of nylon sourced from things like fishing nets, which is recyclable. Cardboard comes from sustainably managed forest sources, and can be recycled, and the boxes made from it feature handles to eliminate the need for shopping bags.
A limited selection of this collaboration will be available on Gucci’s online store in January 2021 while the entire collection will debut in China before hitting stores worldwide.
