Hoshino Resorts KASUKE Tiantai to Open in Tiantai, China
In spring of 2021, Hoshino Resorts, a hotel management company that operates over 40 properties within and outside of Japan, will be opening “Hoshino Resorts KASUKE Tiantai” in the Tiantai Mountain, Zhejiang Province of China. This property will be the first in Tiantai Mountain, China for Hoshino Resorts, where other properties outside of Japan includes HOSHINOYA Bali in Ubud, Bali, and HOSHINOYA Guguan in Taichung, Taiwan. Tiantai Mountain is a scenic area with abundant nature and the mountains in the range has an altitude of about 1,200 metres.
About the Tiantai Mountain District
The Tiantai Mountain district is one of the most popular tourist destinations in China, which is visited by about 20 million people every year and is China’s “National 5A-class tourist attractions” *. This area is one of the sacred mountains in China, where it is known as the birthplace of Tendai Buddhism and associated with Taoism. In addition, temples are scattered around the valleys of the peaks at an altitude of around 1,200 meters, and one of them, the Guoqing Temple, is the birthplace of Chinese Tendai Buddhism, where there has been Buddhism faith since a long time ago. Dengyo Daishi Saicho, the founder of Tendai Buddhism in Japan, entered Tiantai Mountain in the Heian period to study Tendai teachings at Guoqing Temple and later opened Tendai Buddhism in Japan at Enryaku Temple located in the Hiei Mountain. Since then, many Japanese monks have visited Tiantai Mountain and so, it is a place that has been in connection with Japan for a long time.
The abundant nature where you can feel the changing seasons is one of the features of this location and there are many scenic areas such as the Taizhou Shiliang Waterfall, Huading National Forest Park, and the Qiongtai Valley. Moreover, it is famous for the 1,000 different kinds of Chinese herbs that grow at high altitudes, such as high mountain Yunwu tea, and citrus fruits.
